Mikell is from Jacksonville, Florida, and has been studying at the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education for the 2019/20 school year. She is graduating from Academy V.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Atlanta Ballet. The curriculum is wonderful, and the variety of classes and styles offered has helped me become a more well-rounded dancer. I was given many amazing performance opportunities throughout my time at the Atlanta Ballet, and I met so many incredible and inspiring artists and teachers along the way.

“One of my favorite times was when I was able to meet Misty Copeland before performing at the Corps de Ballet Luncheon in the fall; she is truly inspiring. I also loved to get to perform as a Flower in Atlanta Ballet’s The Nutcracker, and performing in the Swan Corps in Bruce Well's The Swan Princess.

“I am planning to attend a ballet school in the fall while studying toward a Bachelor's of Science business degree from the University of Florida's online program. I am happy to have graduated in the top 1% of the senior class of Florida Virtual School, and I look forward to continue my education in both academics and ballet!

“Thank you, Ms. Story, for giving me the opportunity to train at the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education; my time there was amazing and unforgettable! I truly enjoyed my year in Atlanta, even though it was cut short.”
