Atlanta Ballet dedicates the 2023|2024 Kids In Step Program to the memory of Sarah Lamar duBignon, who passed on July 20, 2023. Sarah volunteered at Atlanta Ballet where her four daughters danced for many years. Sarah was instrumental in the creation of Atlanta Ballet’s Kids In Step program, and her legacy will live on, bringing school-age children from around the city to experience ballet for years to come.

About Kids In Step

Over 20,000 children a year witness the enchantment of the Atlanta Ballet through Kids In Step. Scores and scores of buses drop the children off in front of the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre for an exciting and educational field trip. Once they pass through the threshold, they are transported into an enchanted world.

Children experience an abbreviated performance and a special behind-the-scenes look at the magic backstage. Throughout the years, children have been mesmerized by such programs as The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Snow White, The Sleeping Beauty, Beauty & the Beast, and Cinderella. The generosity of our sponsors allows Atlanta Ballet to present these abbreviated productions at a minimal cost to the schools. Teachers receive educational materials prior to the performance describing the components of the production once payment is received.
