Adult Dance Classes

Ages 18 & up only

Registrations for all classes are online only.

A minimum of three paying students must be present for a class to be held. In the case of an instructor's absence, we will substitute from within our staff.

  • Online class registration closes one hour before the scheduled start time.
  • Arrive no more than 10 minutes before the start time.
  • Dressing rooms will be closed. Plan accordingly.
  • A 48-hour cancellation notice is required. No refunds for missed classes. A class credit will only be issued if a minimum 48-hour prior notice is received.

Class Descriptions

Absolute Beginner
A ballet class designed for those with 0-1 years of previous ballet training. Learn the basic positions and build essential vocabulary for a strong foundation that carries over into all dance genres.

Beginner

Recommended for dancers with at least 1-3 years of continuous training. Continue building on your foundation by incorporating new vocabulary and combinations.

Beginner/Intermediate
Recommended for dancers with at least 2-4 years of continuous training.

Intermediate/Advanced
Our most challenging class is designed for dancers with at least 3+ years of continuous training and extensive knowledge of associated vocabulary. A great class for current and former dance professionals of all genres!

Open level

Taught in an easy-to-follow format for all levels, these classes are beginner-friendly but offer choreography modifications to challenge more advanced dancers.

Modern
A truly immersive and collaborative experience of the individuality of Lester Horton, Martha Graham, Jose Limón, Alvin Ailey, and even Caribbean influences of Katherine Dunham and Garth Fagan. Paying homage to the culture and technique of Modern Dance through rich music and movement.

Contemporary
A space where you can grow and develop new skills in contemporary dance and build upon your unique capabilities. A class focused on creating length in the body, gaining flexibility, and the body’s relationship to floorwork and movement exploration with music.

Jazz
This jazz class is high-energy; it's great for a fun workout alternative. This class contains stretch and strengthening exercises, a breakdown of classic jazz steps, and learning fun ways to move! As you continue to attend the class, you will see all of your hard work pay off as you combine the steps you previously learned with ease! This jazz class is great for all adults, no matter the level of dance experience. If you would like to learn a new dance discipline and enjoy fun, upbeat music, this is the class for you!

Tap
This class is designed to welcome those new to tap as well as those revisiting or continuing a tap practice through an introductory exploration of different tap vocabularies, a range of rhythmic sequences, and work with both choreography and improvisation. In this class, Tap is approached as an art form that invites people to practice making music and dance simultaneously. The class is designed to be easy-going, emphasizing learning as a process and affirming each student’s unique capacities for creative expression.

Dance For Life
Presents a gentler approach to ballet to keep you moving and improving through the mature years of life. All levels are welcome. Whether you are curious about trying ballet for the first time or are a seasoned dancer, these classes will challenge your mind and improve posture and flexibility.

Silver Swans®
Discover a new rhythm in life with Silver Swans® ballet classes, crafted for older learners (+55) seeking to enhance mobility, posture, and coordination. Regardless of age, there's no excuse to refrain from embracing an active lifestyle. Dance, with its numerous health benefits, takes center stage in promoting longevity and an enhanced quality of life. Ballet, in particular, emerges as a frontrunner in delivering these advantages. Pay as You Go

Ready to try a new class on your schedule? These drop-in rates give you the flexibility that you need. Please register online for all classes.

ALL CLASSES

Regular Rate: $18
Discount Rate: $15 (Professional, Student, Senior)
One-hour class: $15 (no discount)

Adult Dance
operates on a pay-as-you-go basis; pre-registration is required. The Centre recommends that students arrive at least 10 minutes before class start time to complete check-in in a timely fashion.

Student/Senior rates require a valid college ID or driver's license with proof of age 65+. Professional rates require a current professional dance card, theatre union card, or pay stub. Please bring proof to present to the front desk upon arrival.

Classes close 15 minutes after the scheduled start time. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late will not be permitted to take a class.

Atlanta Ballet adult classes require a minimum 48-hour cancellation notice for in-person classes. No refunds, credits, or exchanges will be issued for cancellations or absences without a written request submitted to the Adult Dance manager at least 48 hours before class start time.

Semester Passes

Unlimited semester and annual passes are by far the best bargain. You will be able to take whatever classes you like, at whatever location you like, and as many times as you like! Passes are also the quickest and most convenient of all purchase options. All you have to do is flash your pass, and you're off to class!

FALL PASS: $600 | August 5, 2024 - January 2, 2025

SPRING PASS:
$600 | January 3 - June 1, 2025

ANNUAL PASS:
$1,200 | Covers all classes for one year from the date of purchase!

The cost of passes will not be pro-rated. Expiration dates will be extended for injury with a doctor's release. Passes are non-transferable and non-refundable. Expiration dates will not be extended for travel.

Dress Code

Comfortable clothing is encouraged. Yoga wear, dance attire, or gym clothes are recommended. Ballet shoes are recommended but not required.

Photography & Film Policy

Out of respect for fellow students and instructors, filming and photography by students are strictly prohibited during class at all CDE locations. We encourage you to interact with us on social media by sharing selfies or group pictures before or after class. Please be mindful of the privacy of others, and do not take and share pictures of others without their expressed consent.
