Small Plates Short Courses Start Thursday, January 15

We are excited to kick-off Small Plates 2015! Now in its third year, Small Plates is a curated series of short dance courses presented by Zoetic Dance Ensemble in collaboration with Atlanta Ballet’s Centre for Dance Education.

Small Plates highlights the diversity of techniques and genres informing contemporary dance in Atlanta. Classes take place on Thursdays from 7:45-9:15 PM at the Michael C. Carlos Dance Centre as part of the Atlanta Ballet Adult Open Division schedule.

January's Small Plates Teacher is Rachel Shaw
January 15, 22 & 29

Rachel L. Shaw's Small Plates short course class will combine technique, phrase work, and improvisation, serving as a lab space for collaborative creative experimentation. Using Bartenieff Fundamentals as a basis, the warm-up will focus on themes of breath, grounding, and release. Each week after the initial warm-up, a new phrase (chapter) will be introduced and playfully manipulated, forming the beginning pieces of an anthology of work.
