Nutrition for Improved Health
Ana Kucelin, MS, RDN, LDN

Learn practical ways to include certain foods, drinks, herbs, and spices in your diet (and identify which ones to avoid) to give your body the maximum nutrition that will boost your immune system and improve your health. You do not have to diet or go to extremes in order to give your body the best chance of preventing illness!

What Does it Mean to Eat CLEAN?
Ana Kucelin, MS, RDN, LDN
Learn what ingredients on food labels to avoid in order to eat only wholesome foods. We will explore all the pro-inflammatory, artificial, and highly processed ingredients and foods that find the way onto your plate without you ever noticing. Equip yourself with knowledge to learn how to avoid these ingredients and how to eat clean, wholesome, and healthy foods without sacrificing taste.

What’s The Scoop on Sodium & Sugar
Jamie Pepper, Georgia State University
Parents and athletes will compare everyday food and beverage sodium and sugar levels to see how much they are truly getting in their diets. With a hands on activity and a sugar model, you will be surprised at the amount of sodium and sugar found in commonly consumed foods and beverages.

Food Sensitivities

Food sensitivities play a large role in the health of our immune system. It becomes tired and weak if there are substances that are ingested that our body has deemed "bad" due to a damaged intestinal tract. We will discuss the ways in which your intestinal tract can become damaged, the direct connection between the intestines and the immune system, symptoms to watch out for if you suspect you have food sensitivities, and ways you can get yourself back on track and strengthen your immune system.

Powering up with Plant Strong Meals
Rebecca Portman, Food Policy Outreach Coordinator for Humane Society of The United States
Leading experts agree that plant-based foods are healthful choices for individuals of all ages. Diets rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, and nuts are consistently linked to lower obesity rates, blood cholesterol levels, and blood pressure. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics notes the benefits of eating more plant-based meals and says this type of diet is appropriate for all stages of life. Learn the why and how of plant-strong eating.
